VIETNAM: Scaling up of Rural Water Private Sector Participation

The purpose of the PPIAF intervention is to strengthen the enabling environment for private sector participation (PSP) in the rural water sector, identify suitable PSP models and build capacity for scaled-up and sustainable PSP in the rural water supply (RWS) in Vietnam. Achievement of these objectives will facilitate the role that PSP can play in providing much-needed investment financing, tariff discipline, management expertise, and solutions for climate adaptation to increase access to and sustainability of rural water supply. The PPIAF technical assistance will provide the necessary analytical and advisory work and a demonstration of key elements of the implementation approach that can then be scaled up under the proposed Bank-supported RWS Project and the central ministry (MARD).
