SOUTH AFRICA: Transnet Green Freight Strategy

The PPIAF-supported technical assistance will help Transnet explore opportunities to minimize/mitigate the negative impact of climate change and environmental risks in its current operations and future work. The technical assistance will also seek to identify opportunities that ensure that the planned increases in private sector participation in the country’s freight and logistics arena also contribute to furthering the country’s climate change commitments. Developing the Green Freight strategy for Transnet will ensure that it maximizes the resources and expertise in the private sector for its long-term sustainability.
