SAO TOME AND PRINCIPE: Private Sector Participation Options to Foster Renewable Energy and Achieve Nationally Determined Contributions Targets for Sao Tome and Principe

In 2018, The Government of São Tomé and Principe requested PPIAF assistance in assessing its legal and regulatory framework and providing recommendations by benchmarking hydro and solar IPP projects in the region as well as assessing the sector's investment and capacity needs. In addition to the assessment, two workshops were conducted with stakeholders including the Ministry of Infrastructure, Ministry of Finance, electricity utility, regulator, etc. to present (i) the main concepts of PPPs in infrastructure projects and (ii) the results of the Least Cost Development Plan, being prepared under a Bank project
