PANAMA: Towards NDC Implementation Through Public – Private Energy Efficiency Initiatives in Panama

PPIAF supported the definition of the policy and regulation towards improved energy efficiency in Panama. The work successfully accompanied the approval and implementation of an energy efficiency labeling and standards program, including a sustainable construction guide. The elections in 2020 and the pandemic have delayed the Energy Efficiency Fund establishment work for which the preliminary prefeasibility and strategy was completed for. Meanwhile, the draft policy and regulations were presented at the first regional forum America Central Eficiente, where the public and private sector players convened to discuss the adoption of energy efficiency policies, strategies, practices, and products. The event created a space for a dialogue to support Central American countries to move forward with their national Energy Efficiency agendas.
