LIBERIA: National Electrification Strategy with Geospatial Planning

This activity conducted a National Electrification Analysis (NEA) for Liberia through an evaluation of a variety of electrification access options that may be considered and shared with the Government of Liberia as it prepares the National Electrification Strategy (NES) for Liberia. The national electrification strategy options analysis, with the help to geospatial tool, identified the least cost technology options (grid expansion and intensification, large and community based mini-grids, and stand-alone solar systems) for reaching universal access to electricity by 2030. A 3-phase programmatic approach (MPA) is processed for mobilizing IDA support towards the goal of universal access by 2030. The total estimated costs for NEA electrification access expansion is estimated at $280 million and will help Liberia to achieve universal access to energy by 2030.
