HONDURAS: Tegucigalpa Municipal Financial Management and Creditworthiness Assessment

PPIAF funded a Credit Rating of the city of Tegucigalpa. The rating provided credible information on the status of the city’s finances and served as a baseline against which improvements of the city’s capacity are to be reviewed. The financial management assessment was conducted to help the client understand its financial management practices, as well as its strengths and weaknesses in relation to peers and international good practices, providing the base for improving its investment forecast and planning. It is expected that Tegucigalpa will be able to build its credit history, improve transparency, and attract private sector investors. The publishing of the credit rating also moved the city one step closer towards integration with the region and the world.
