GLOBAL: Water Innovation Platforms

The World Bank, with support from PPIAF, has developed Water Innovation Platforms (WIPs) in Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). WIPs are online platforms that bring together different stakeholders in the water sector for knowledge exchange, research collaboration, and demonstration of new technologies in real-world settings. The primary objective of these platforms is to assist water sector operators in identifying and adopting new technologies that can improve service provision, quality, and efficiency. This is accomplished in the context of meeting the utilities' operational targets and fostering collaboration and data sharing among regional service providers. The WIPs contribute to the overall goal of improving access to safe and sustainable water services for all, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing the quality of life for communities in Africa and LAC.
