GLOBAL: Transport Regulation at Times of Technological Change

To develop a comprehensive compendium of the traditional and emerging regulatory complexities and challenges in the transport sector as a whole, including all modes, their inter-relation and covering the transport markets serving freight and passengers. The proposed analytic work would combine 3 parts:
(i) A thorough revision of the body of knowledge on the topic;
(ii) Empirical understanding of sector and country typologies within which various regulatory interventions might be effective,
(iii) To conceptualize what does regulation mean for the transport sector (and sub-sectors and their interactions) and how that conceptualization is changing due to new technologies; and
(iv) An action-oriented framework that can guide the WB engagement with its clients and with the private sector.
