AFRICA: Leveraging the Existing Regional Energy Infrastructure to Improve Internet Connectivity in Mali, Mauritania and Senegal with Private Sector Participation (Phase I)
Improving internet access and communications by facilitating private sector usage of surplus fiber-optic lines already installed on existing high-voltage electricity transmission lines. Secondary objectives include generation of additional revenue for OMVS and implementation of proper governance in the tendering processes for award of the fibers to telecom operators.
