GHANA: Municipal Financing Alternatives for the Municipality of Sekondi-Takoradi

Assessing the economic capacity of the Municipality of Sekondi-Takoradi, including indentifying current sources of revenue, to determine options for financing key infrastructure projects.

The support PPIAF provided to the municipality of Sekondi-Takoradi helped assess its road network and the financing options for road improvement and maintenance projects. The regulatory framework and institutional arrangements for the transport sector, the financial situation of STMA and the conditions of the existing road network were examined. The municipality's capacity for implementing PPP projects was also assessed and areas of weakness were identified. The final report outlined the municipality's short, medium and long-term transport infrastructure needs and identified pilot projects that could be implemented through PPP structures.
