NICARAGUA: Enabling Environment for Mainstreaming Private Investment in Solar PV

This activity has successfully contributed to the overarching Programmatic Approach objective of supporting the development of enabling environments to support the energy transition towards a more sustainable, resilient, and cleaner energy sector in Central America, by setting the analytical underpinnings and tools to identify and address the barriers for the progressive introduction of Renewable Energy in Nicaragua and contribute to creating an enabling environment for the future development of solar PV and ultimately increasing generation capacity while diversifying the energy mix. The diversification of the generation matrix would contribute to enhancing resilience to external impacts and lowering the cost of electricity generation in the midterm.

The deliverables included the legal and regulatory framework recommendations, a report on any barriers for the private sector for implementation of such projects, and financial structuring recommendations (scenarios).
