MOROCCO: Strengthening the urban transport sector in Morocco

This activity, implemented in parallel and complementary to a World Bank Program for Results operation (focused on, inter alia, improving central and local capacities to plan, implement and monitor urban transport projects and strengthening the transport urban fund), helped provide the necessary tools and capacity building measures to the Government of Morocco and select municipalities. The goal of the PPIAF-SNTA support was to improve (i) the framework for subnational entities’ financing by the GoM of infrastructure investments as a complement to municipal contributions and private sector involvement; and (ii) subnational entities’ operational and financial performance to improve their financial sustainability and for a facilitated and increased access to funding from other sources such as debt and capital markets.
