MALAWI: Financial Strengthening and Creditworthiness Support for ESCOM

Bringing creditworthiness practices to the Electricity Supply Company of Malawi (ESCOM). This activity assessed ESCOM's creditworthiness through 2 ratings and also improved the efficiency of the utility's tax reporting operations, significantly reducing penalties and other large liabilities. ESCOM management was also provided with a detailed financing options market study and a set of recommendations for an optimal approach that could include commercially based financing under the right circumstances.
