GLOBAL: Examining the Role of Institutional Investors in Financing Developing Country Infrastructure

This activity explored the role institutional investors play in financing infrastructure projects in developing countries. Institutional investors have received increased attention as potential sources of infrastructure finance given the constraints on public sector budgets and the introduction of stricter banking regulations. The final report concludes that there are several possible models to structure institutional investors' participation in infrastructure finance, but all of them require a strong enabling environment and pipeline of projects to be successful.
