COMOROS: Improving Private Sector Management of Water Supply Phase II

This is the same recommendation made for the phase 1 activity, since the two activities are inextricably linked. While the World Bank itself no longer has the mandate to operate in Comoros' water and sanitation sector (it was not a key sector in the Country Partnership Strategy), the African Development Bank's 'Clean Water and Sanitation Project' will help implement some of these recommendations. However, some of the rehabilitation work to the water system that was recommended by this report will not be funded by AfDB. Stakeholders are looking to other sources of funding for this kind of work. At this point, it is probably best for PPIAF to touch base with the AfDB to see if there is any need for our support as it carries out its 'Clean Water and Sanitation Project'.
