BHUTAN: Improving the capacity of the Royal Government of Bhutan to implement infrastructure PPPs (Phase II)

This grant request covers the second phase of funding for the Government of Bhutan – PPIAF assistance was initially requested in 2011 to support the Government of Bhutan in finalizing the PPP Policy, propose a roadmap for improved PPP capability in Bhutan and support consultations to finalize the PPP Policy and institutional framework. The second phase of PPIAF support to the RGoB was for the operationalization of the PPP policy through the development of rules and regulations and holding trainings/workshops on PPP policies for the government officials and other stakeholders. All outputs have been delivered and the workshops were a success. In January 2017, it was announced that The Royal Government of Bhutan approved new PPP legislation to ease bureaucratic hurdles and modernize the country’s approach to PPPs.
